SUMMARY: Performs minor and major repairs of equipment, new installation of equipment, and performs preventative maintenance on equipment. Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required. To repair, rebuild or overhaul production and service equipment in the facility. To have good computer skills, reads and interprets blueprints or process flow sheets to help plan for any maintenance needed. Maintain excellent safety record, house keeping, and personal conduct. Helps maintain records of repaired equipment. Helps maintain part lists for equipment, and obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts as needed. Good skill in the use of hand and power tools. Perform safe work manners and keep good communication with all Shift Supervisors and Plant Mgr. Offers ideas for improvements and cost savings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following: Other duties may be assigned at management’s discretion. 

  • Activities include, but not limited to: Maintenance on minor electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic equipment, and others as assigned.
  • Plan work projects, procure proper materials, insure spare parts are available for the repair and maintenance of plant equipment, keep inventories at a minimum and reduce parts cost.
  • Maintain accurate and timely work records, complete paperwork daily.
  • Work closely with contracted work crews.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment and supplies for maintenance staff to perform work at facilities
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with all departments

  • High School Diploma or 1 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and work orders in English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Must be able to work with all types of electrical equipment and tools Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The duties of this job requires a person to stoop, bend, work off of knees, climb ladders and work in high areas up to 130 feet, work in dark areas and work in confined spaces after trained to do so. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management.
