SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The Driver / On-Site Recruiter (OSR) supports the success of mobile blood drives through safe, timely transportation and exceptional donor engagement. This role requires a Class D (CD) driver’s license and flexibility for early mornings and varying schedules. The ideal candidate is outgoing, personable, and comfortable working in fast-paced environments and different climates. In addition to operating bloodmobile vehicles and assisting with setup, this position actively recruits donors, supports registration, and promotes a positive, mission-driven donor experience.

 

JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES-

Driving and Operations:

  • Safely operate company vehicles to and from mobile blood drive sites.
  • Load, unload, and secure equipment and supplies per safety standards.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and maintain cleanliness and readiness of assigned vehicles.
  • Follow all DOT and company transportation policies.

Donor Recruitment and On-Site Support:

  • Engage potential donors and promote participation in blood drives.
  • Distribute educational and recruitment materials.
  • Coordinate with Donor Group Representatives and Mobile Crew Chiefs to maximize donor turnout.
  • Provide assistance with donor registration and check-in as needed.
  • Support mobile drive setup, donor flow, and site breakdown.

Administrative Support:

  • Maintain accurate records of drives, mileage, and donor interactions.
  • Provide clerical support to Donor Group Representatives as needed.
  • Assist with marketing and promotional activities related to mobile drives.

Team Collaboration and Safety:

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and teamwork at all times.
  • Follow all organizational safety policies and procedures, including OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standards.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other related duties as necessary to support SunCoast Blood Centers' mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Prior commercial or route driving experience preferred; customer service or donor recruitment experience a plus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Outgoing, personable, and able to engage diverse groups of people.
  • Reliable, professional, and mission-focused.
  • Comfortable in busy environments and outdoor conditions.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Flexible schedule with availability for early morning start times and variable hours.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Florida Class D (CD) Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Must meet SunCoast Blood Centers’ insurability and safety standards.

 

LEGAL AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

  • Adhere to Florida labor and safety laws, including wage/hour and anti-discrimination standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and SunCoast Blood Centers policies.
  • Employment contingent upon background check, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting required.
  • Work may occur indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials possible; PPE provided.
