Contract Project Manager
The Contract Project Manager (PM) reports to the Manager,Technical Programs, Planning and Strategy and is responsible for overseeing the timely execution of development and quality for the charger platform system and supporting automotive OEM (OEM) partners for Electrify America. The PM will support the lead Technical Program Manager – OEM and work closely with the Business Development, Product, Quality, Software Development, and other teams, as well as multiple external OEM partners, to integrate existing and new products to benefit EV drivers and to achieve requirements. The PM will ensure continual alignment with guidelines from industry and standards organizations. Strong expertise in project oversight and the ability to drive timely deliveries are critical; familiarity with the EV industry is desired. Maintain continual focus on successfully managing timelines aligned with cross-functional teams. Must be comfortable aligning with business stakeholders to ensure requirements are developed to maximize customer usability while contributing to an overall future-proofed architecture; the successful candidate will leverage technical knowledge to guide teams to present best alternatives and optimal solutions to support business and financial objectives. Guide and support cross-functional teams of internal and external developers, testers, engineers, and product and technical experts in a high-pressure environment with aggressive (and changing) timelines is critical. Must be able to identify and raise development or timing risks to leadership appropriately, along with proposed solutions.
Possible Tasks within this Role
Main responsibility – Project Management 70% of time spent
· Take a disciplined approach to project management, overseeing execution of development and quality for charger platform system within industry and standards requirements.
· Identify scope, timelines and milestones, detect and communicate risks proactively, and coordinate across teams.
· Guide development teams toward future-proofed, optimal architecture to support business priorities with high level of quality.
· Support the lead Technical Program Manager – OEM engagements.
· Manage systematic, organized creation of repository of requirements and of business solutions in Confluence for ongoing reference by stakeholders.
· Implement OEM pricing plans under guidance of lead TPM – OEM.
· Support ISO 9001 compliance.
· Build and share aligned schedules for development, testing and signoff among key stakeholders and, as appropriate, external customers and vendors.
· Assist with Technology projects sprint planning and deliveries.
· Ensure proactive, regular communication and timely delivery on commitments.
· Assist in compiling and presenting executive level readouts.
Additional responsibilities – Internal Alignment 20 % of time
· Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and external partners; align on business and technical requirements and turn them into actionable development requirements and timelines for delivery.
· Proactively identify additional business needs/goals and demonstrate a path to achieve; Gain leadership buy-in and execute accordingly.
Additional responsibilities – Alignment with Business development and Strategy (10%)
· Report on the current project Status to Business Development and Product.
· Support Business Development in the communication with external partners, including the preparation of technical offers for the development scope of the role.
Qualification requirements
Years of Relevant Experience:
5 years technical program management experience in the IT/Technology field, 3+ years software development work, and interaction with business stakeholders, external customers and vendor management
Education:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or related field, or equivalent degree, technical equivalent or work experience
Skills:
· 3+ years’ experience in software development or technology
· 5+ years’ experience as a Technology Project Manager or similar
· Demonstrable proactive experience successfully managing end to end project execution and ongoing program management, coupled with attention to detail.
· Experience leveraging strategic vision, critical thinking and rational judgment to develop and manage execution of project and program plans.
· Cross-functional leadership experience and strong team management abilities; demonstrated ability to guide teams to translate business needs or issues into solutions, demonstrated ability to prioritize user experience with industry-leading technologies and to pivot quickly to new priorities.
· Integration skills and experience to connect people, processes, and/or systems to achieve common goals.
· Strong focus on customer experience; comfort leading development teams and vendors to optimal solutions in order to achieve desired outcomes while building a future-proof architecture.
· Demonstrated experience with compiling and presenting project/program slide decks to executive leadership.
· Strong interpersonal skills; ability to gain credibility across levels of the organization and to partner with, and influence as needed, key stakeholders to move initiatives forward.
· Strong practical and pragmatic approach to solving problems and challenges.
· Time management and organization skills. Comfort with managing changing and often ambiguous timelines.
· Growth mindset and robust, creative analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with curiosity to approach challenges from new angles; solution oriented.
· Superior communication skills – interpersonal, oral and written presentation – Strong listening skills.
· Experience capturing business requirements and documenting (or requiring team to document) meeting minutes and action items, aligning requirement changes or phasing and change management and status updates in Jira/Confluence or similar.
· Knowledge of current technology industry trends with focus on staying abreast of cutting-edge technology
Specialized Skills (Required):
· Software project and program management experience.
· Experience applying AGILE development principles or other iterative approaches.
· Knowledge of programming and good understanding of software development lead times.
· Internal stakeholder and multi-vendor management experience.
· Excellent written & oral communication skills with internal and external audiences/stakeholders.
· Excellent analytical & computer skills.
· Demonstrable record of successful deployment to budget and timeline for multi-stakeholder projects.
· Demonstrable record of precision, integrity in past work assignments.
· Demonstrated high level of initiative.
Specialized Skills (Desired):
· Experience in the Electric Vehicle or EV charging industries or interoperability implementation.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of the automotive OEM industry.
· Comprehensive understanding of mobility services.
· Charging protocol knowledge of OCPP and/or OCPI.
· Familiarity with databases and AWS environments. Experience/ proficiency in C-Suite presentation.
Work Flexibility:
· Travel- Domestic and International, up to approximately 5-10%
