Job Summary:
This Class A position is a Graveyard Shift from 8PM to 6AM (home daily). The exact start and end time of each shift can vary somewhat depending on operational needs and weather.
Two Important Notes:
- You must have a NV driver's license to be hired for this position.
- You must have experience chaining up during weather events.
The Class A (linehaul) Driver supports the Operations Manager and department in the performance of nightly activities which includes, but are not limited to, operating up to a 53-foot tractor trailer to perform drop and hook deliveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner.
The Class A Driver maintains accurate, up-to-date records such as, but not limited to, Electronic Logging Device (ELD), Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reporting.
The Class A Driver adheres to laws and regulations governed by regulatory agencies such as, but not limited to, The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Transportation Safety Administration (TSA). This is a safety sensitive position and falls under federal drug and alcohol regulations.
California Sierra Express has been serving the air freight logistics industry for over 35 years. We operate six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno, NV. We're an overnight carrier serving international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel around the globe.
You'll be joining a local team of 15 people committed to providing the best service possible to our customers who trust Cal Sierra to move their shipments on-time throughout Reno/Carson basin.

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Consistent attendance Mon - Fri is mandatory.
- Complete assigned line haul route in a timely manner. Route duration can vary day to day and may require 10-12 hours to complete.
- Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
- Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Comply with truck and cargo security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
- Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
- Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid Commercial Class A Drivers License (CDL).
- Must be at least 23 years of age.
- Minimum of two (2) years commercial driving experience.
- Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years)
- Valid DOT Medical Examination Card.
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) endorsement, preferred.
- Experience driving in adverse weather conditions, mountains, and chaining installation.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.
