The Tax Manager will oversee the company’s tax compliance, planning, and reporting functions, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role will play a critical part in managing tax obligations for a publicly traded organization, collaborating with internal teams and external advisors to optimize tax strategies and support financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns, including corporate income, franchise, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.
- Financial Reporting: Manage tax provisions and disclosures in accordance with ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) for SEC reporting requirements.
- Tax Planning: Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Audit Support: Coordinate and manage tax audits, liaising with external auditors and regulatory authorities to resolve inquiries and issues.
- Research & Analysis: Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, conducting research to assess their impact on the company and recommend proactive measures.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with finance, legal, and operational teams to provide tax guidance on business initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline tax processes, enhance efficiency, and implement best practices in tax management.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications
- Education: CPA required.
- Experience: 5+ years of tax experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably within a publicly traded company or Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, ASC 740, and SEC reporting requirements; proficiency in tax software (e.g., OneSource) and ERP systems (e.g., OneStream).
- Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to analyze complex tax issues, interpret regulations, and provide actionable recommendations.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex tax concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Leadership: Proven experience in managing teams, projects, and cross-functional initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
- Location Requirement: Must be based in or willing to relocate to Dallas, Texas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with international tax compliance and transfer pricing.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analytics tools.
