Job Description:
Position Summary
This position supports the development of aircraft structures as a Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analyst. Duties include performing F&DT analysis for metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and static stress colleagues. Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop high strength to weight ratio structures.
Primary Responsibilities
Technical Solutions
- Perform simple to routine levels of durability and damage tolerance analyses to verify that structural integrity requirements have been met. Team assignments may include detail part sizing, layout maturation, trade study analysis, weight reduction efforts, certification activity, or in-service support.
- Document analyses in support of trade studies or detail drawing sign-off for airframe structure using AIRBUS computer based toolsets (SAP, CATIA, VPM, etc.)
- Collaborate with Static Stress, Design and other appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum solutions. Perform functional and technical tasks with guidance
- Develop materials for team related briefings to internal and/or external customers.
- Able to understand project planning requirements and implement activities to achieve customer requirements.
- Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to supervision.
Additional Responsibilities
- Identify and support local initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
Required Education
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.
Preferred Education
- Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline
- Minor in Computer Science
Required Experience
- 0 to 3 years total experience in F&DT/Static analysis with airframe structures and/or system installation projects
Preferred Experience
- Internship in the aerospace engineering field with airframe experience
- 5% Domestic and International
- Authorized to Work in the US
Required Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
- Understands basic technical principles, theories, and concepts applying textbook solutions to solve routine technical problems.
- Capable of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment both independently and collectively
- Dependable, self-motivated and accessible
- Able to prioritize concurrent assignments with guidance.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical procedures and bill of material systems.
- Capable of creating and delivering technical documents and presentations with guidance
- Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail)
- Software coding in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and disciplines.
- Effectively communicates issues, solutions, ideas, and status of current work to the Lead
- Conversational French and/or German
