About the Department

This is an open and continuous recruitment which will remain open and close without notice once a sufficient pool of highly-qualified candidates has been created.

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create a consideration for hire list to fill multiple vacancies for the classification of Utility Maintenance Aide - Field Operations (Part-Time) in the Department of Utility Services. The consideration for hire list list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. 

Under general supervision, performs a variety of manual labor tasks associated with the routine maintenance and repair of water, sewer, and utility facilities and assists with general warehouse and inventory tasks; and performs related duties as assigned.

  • The current vacancies are for part-time, PERS-eligible positions.
  • This position does not qualify for employer-paid benefits, wage increases, or union representation.

Position Duties

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • One (1) year of full-time experience performing construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of the water distribution, reclaimed water, and wastewater collection system
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or “border state” driver’s license, as defined by NRS 483
  •  Must obtain and maintain the appropriate OSHA card as defined by the Nevada Revised Statue (NRS 618.950)
  • Must obtain and maintain City Forklift Certification within thirty (30) days of hire
  • Employee will be expected to complete assigned training courses through the City of Henderson's learning management system
  • All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by local, state, and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained as a condition of continued employment and at the incumbents’ expense

The assessment and selection process for this position will take place on the dates listed above. All candidates who wish to be considered for this position will need to be in Henderson, Nevada, and make themselves available to participate in the testing process at any time on any of the dates listed above.

This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
