Scheduled Salary Increase:
1% effective 11/10/25 ($141,258 - $180,310 Annually)

The Fresno County Department of Public Works and Planning invites applications for the position of Supervising Engineer. Incumbents are licensed Professional Engineers and plan, direct, and manage a civil/and or traffic engineering section or sections of the Department of Public Works and Planning.

Other Qualifications

Registration: Possession of a valid license or Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil, Structural, or Traffic Engineer issued by the State of California, Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.

 

Experience: Five (5) years of full-time, paid civil, structural, or traffic engineering work experience, one (1) year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity over engineers.

 

License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.

  • The eligible list for this recruitment may be extended up to 12 months, and may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. 
  • Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules. 

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:
Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.
