This is a position in our adult evening program.

 

Attleboro Technical Institute - Electrical Instructor

  • Job Goal: To prepare adult learners for careers in the workplace, and to instill the employability and professionalism skills needed to be successful in the workplace.

    The Team & Learning Environment: The instructor will be part of an expanding evening school department, using both teaching and industry experience to instruct students to develop the technical skills they need to be competitive in the workforce. The department is overseen by the Director of Career and Technical Education Director and their designee, who, along with the teachers, works to ensure compliance with the Career and Technical Initiative Grant expectations.

Evaluation: Performed by the ATI Program Manager.


Qualifications: Eligible applicant(s) should be a licensed electrician and preferably have a teaching license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education .

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the development and delivery of instruction in accordance with departmental curriculum objectives and the MA CVTE Curriculum Frameworks.
2. Training adult learners for new careers.
3. Establish and maintain a professional classroom/shop environment, with an emphasis on shop safety, strong work ethic, and mastery of skills.
4. Develop and implement a course of study that reflects industry needs to prepare individuals in accordance with CTI requirements.
5. Ability to work afternoons/evenings to instruct underemployed/ unemployed adults.
6. Support the Director of CTE and the ATI Program Manager in recommending program improvement, equipment & supply purchases, and industry recognized credentialing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. MA DESE Teacher’s license – if applicable
2. Curriculum development experience and knowledge of integration of technical competencies from curriculum frameworks.
3. Five years of recent (within the last seven years), full-time employment experience directly related to their field and/or teaching experience.
4. Competency in the use of computer applications and instructional technology to aid in the interactive delivery of instruction.

 

Hours of instruction: 3-7 plus 1 hour paid prep per day for 12+/- weeks. Maximum per semester 200 hours @ $90/hr

 

Each teacher will also have a Teaching Assistant (AHS student) to assist with instruction
