Job Summary: The Coding and Auditing Supervisor is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the coding, precheck, and auditing teams ensuring all charges, prechecks and audits activities are completed timely, accurately, compliantly and within the established business office guidelines.
This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Spine Team Texas.

Job Responsibilities
The Coding and Auditing Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the coding and auditing teams (including the Precheck Program). They ensure a strong focus on all coding, auditing, and compliance activities. They will work very closely with the Business Office Operations Manager, Revenue Cycle Manager as well as the Director of Revenue Cycle to ensure all Business office goals are met.
- Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all charge posting activities.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to billing, coding and claims submission.
- Analyzing revenue cycle data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement within the coding teams.
- Ensuring the quality of service by maintaining knowledge of all coding guidelines along with all third-party payor requirements.
- Developing training materials for coders, physicians, and other STT providers.
- Educating providers on coding and documentation requirements.
- Strong communication with providers, third party payors and other STT members regarding coding and auditing activities.
- Performing and/or assisting in all audits of coded medical records and partnering with vendors for external audits.
- Compiling, analyzing, and presenting data related to coder/charge posters performance.
- Preparing staff schedules and overseeing the workload of the coders, precheck and auditing teams.
- Providing training and guidance to the RCM team to ensure best practices are followed.
- Assist in the development and ongoing review of all core competencies for staff development and new hire training.
- Developing and maintaining productive positive relationships with all key stakeholders in such as department leads, supervisors and managers to integrate and align the RCM process with other business operations.
- Motivating assigned employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Responsible for project management for assigned areas and others as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and work in a well-lit, air-conditioned office environment. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of five pounds. Must be able to work under pressure. Tasks involve no exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials.
Qualifications
Educational Requirements & Position Qualifications:
- High School diploma required.
- Certified Coder with at least 5 years of coding experience.
- Certified Professional Auditor’s Certification.
- Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder Certification is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills, including ability to prioritize own work.
- Excellent organizational ability.
- Possess the ability to plan and execute work projects.
- Possess the ability to work productively, either independently or with other individuals.
- Proficient in communicating in the English language both written and verbally.
