Life Engagement Manager 

RiverWoods Manchester is currently hiring for a Life Engagement Manager to come join our  team. We are looking for team members who will bring their best selves and specialty skills to our organization. The Life Engagement Manager will provide guidance and training for all Life Engagement team members focusing on providing an on-going program of activities designed and implemented to meet the interests as well as physical, mental, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual well-being of each resident, through a comprehensive assessment and planning processes on assigned campus. Typical hours for this position are Monday- Friday 8 am- 4:30 pm. Availability after-hours, on weekends, and/or holidays or as needed may be requested to meet community needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality customer service with a positive attitude and commitment to teamwork while meeting the needs of residents, staff and visitors.  Supports all aspects of the RiverWoods community.
  • Assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the Life Engagement Department, performs administrative requirements, maintains a productive working relationship with all departments within the facility, and other health related facilities and organizations, assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished. Responsible for updating, administering, and coordinating department policies and procedures, and developing new policies and procedures as necessary. Work interdepartmentally as necessary and implement recommended changes as required, delegate responsibility and accountability to other responsible department personnel.
  • Responsible for enhancing the quality of life for all residents by ensuring the socialization and therapeutic needs are met in an individualized program that helps to provide meaning and purpose to each resident as well as being responsible for communicating the benefit of recreational and therapeutic activities to residents, families and staff.
  • Interview resident/families upon admission and as appropriate in a private setting. Involve resident/family in planning objectives, goals and plan of care, attend and provide information for weekly care conferences. Develop preliminary and comprehensive assessment of the activity needs of each resident; provides MDS and CAA documentation, ensure activity personnel are aware of the care plan, review and revise care plans as necessary and review nurses’ notes. Participate in discharge planning; refer resident/ families to appropriate services as needed.
  • Keep current on State/Federal regulations and standards; make recommendations on changes to the Director of Community Life as pertain to this position. Review department policies and procedures, at least annually. Participate in making recommended changes and adjustments in the activities program. Keep current on economic conditions/situations and recommend adjustments in the Life Engagement program that ensure the continued ability to provide daily meaningful activities. Review and develop a plan of correction for Life Engagement department deficiencies noted during survey inspections, provide a written copy of such report to the Director of Social Services.
  • Assist Life Engagement Partners with the initiation, development, organization and responsibility of community programs/trips, in accordance with resident interests. Coordinate with Campus Services for transportation as necessary for trips out.
  • Assist in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of personnel for the Life Engagement Department, schedule, delegate, supervise, discipline, terminate personnel when necessary, assist with reviewing and updating of departmental job descriptions, make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Director of Community Life concerning the operations of the Life Engagement Department, interpret the departments policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Community Life, develop and participate in the planning, conducting and scheduling of in-service training and leadership training.
  • Budget Planning:  Forecast needs of the department including food, equipment, supplies and labor, maintain current written records of expenditures and make adjustments to conform to approved budget. Assure adequate financial records and cost reports are completed as requested by Accounting Department and Director of Social Services.
  • Manage the resident portal (Icon) for both the resident app and the Family App.
  • Assist in the planning and provide development, organization and implementation of a Volunteer Program for Healthcare including primary responsibility for engaging, recruiting and maintaining a Resident Volunteer Program.
  • Coordinates and supervises development of monthly activity calendars. Assist in the development of programs and outreach designed to familiarize and involve family members in residents’ activities. Ensure the daily delivery of mail and all pertinent administrative, financial and supportive information. Coordinate, implement and maintain minutes of monthly resident council meetings.  Ensure that staff provides articles and photos on a timely basis for the Life Engagement Department bimonthly newsletter.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level college degree or equivalent in experience and skill Required. Degree in Recreational Management, Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy, Health and Wellness Management, preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in social or recreation programming, (3) of which has been full-time in a leadership role in a health care setting.
