Maintenance Mechanic bei Catawba County Government, NC

About the Department

Catawba County is recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic to join our Facilities team. In this role, you’ll help keep all County buildings and systems operating safely, efficiently, and in top condition, supporting the employees and citizens who use them daily. This role involves a wide range of maintenance, repair, and preventative tasks in areas such as plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, locksmithing, and general building maintenance.

Position Duties

• Perform regular and preventative maintenance on County facilities, equipment, and systems
• Complete plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair work
• Maintain and repair locks, doors, and security hardware (locksmithing)
• Relocate or move office furniture, equipment, and other materials between County facilities
• Conduct pest control and assist with snow removal and other seasonal needs
• Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment, including power tools and light machinery
• Provide excellent customer service and interact professionally with County employees, citizens, and contractors

• Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations 

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent and 2 years of experience in the maintenance or construction field; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Qualifications

• Valid NC driver's license with a safe driving record (Driving is an essential function of this position)
• Proficient in using power tools, heavy equipment, and basic computer technology (iPad, work order systems, etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting, decision-making, and communication skills
• Commitment to workplace safety and service excellence
• This is considered Very Heavy Work, lifting in excess of 100 pounds occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds more frequently.
