Job Summary:
Responsible for safe and effective delivery of patient care to the pre and postoperative patient.
Responsible for PACU call
Responsible for working all area’s of the department including preoperative area, postoperative area and post anesthesia care unit
Job Responsibilities:
1. Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and religious
diversity
2. Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient
manner to infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.
3. Assesses patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and evaluation. Documents
readiness to learn, teaching barriers and outcomes.
4. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital policies and
procedures.
5. Effectively utilizes the nursing process to ensure optimal nursing care and patient outcomes.

6. Engages in activities to expand and/or enhance the professional nursing role, which includes integration

8. Develops, implements and prioritizes and individualized plan of care based on identified needs that
addresses physical, safety, educational, psychosocial, spiritual, cultural, developmental and functional
needs
9. Delegates respectively and appropriately to health care team members
10. Recognizes that patient’s right to safe care
11. Acts in accordance with hospital policies and code of conduct
12. Correctly administers medications and treatments
13. Maintains healthy work environment to enhance nurse retention and recruitment
14. Utilizes the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in nursing practice
15. Seeks experiences from formal and independently learning activities to develop clinical and
professional skills.
Qualifications
Education Requirements and Other Requirements:
Education Level: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Certification/Licensure: Illinois licensed or eligible.
CPR certification required
ACLS provider status preferred
PALS provider status preferred
Experience Requirements: Minimum one year of PACU experience preferred
Critical care experience preferred
