Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Product Compliance Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, PA.

Accountabilities

We are looking for a Senior Product Compliance Engineer who will:

  • Prepare the dossiers related to fire smoke regulations NFPA130

  • Lead a small team of local junior Product Compliance Engineers

  • Be in charge of the Compliance Analysis in accordance with the regulations that control hazardous substances in electrical/electronic equipment and lifecycle assessment

  • Prepare dossiers relating to the regulation for the control of exports, brokering, technical assistance, transit and transfer of dual-use items (EU and US Regulations)

  • Develop innovative methodologies to be applied as standards in the design process of products and solutions

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • At least 5 years of experience in a product compliance related role

  • Previous experience working as a team lead. Must have the ability to lead local junior Product Compliance Engineers.

  • Knowledge of NFPA130 - Standard for fire protection for Rolling Stock

  • Good knowledge about Life Cycle Assessment Methodologies

  • Experience with and an understanding of information related to electrical/electronic/mechanical components

  • Able to work autonomously and be proactive in the management of tasks

  • Willing to work in an international team and environment

  • Excellent communication skills

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering (preferable), Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering or equivalent technical/scientific background

Languages
Knowledge of foreign language is welcome
