POSITION SUMMARY:
-In a team environment, operates punch presses, forming and assembly machinery and performs assembly and auto packer operations. Machine operation may be a multiple machine hook-ups.
-Performs quality procedures and documents results.
-Is responsible for loading feeders with appropriate parts, operating machine controls, spot checking product for quality, and changing and setting up packaging containers.
-Responsible for following all safety policies and procedures.
-Read job orders thoroughly.
-Always performs duties with the goal of satisfying the customer.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load metal parts into feeder of machinery-Operator picks up metal from “tub” or table. Operator waxes top of blanks in some instances. Places metal strips, blanks or parts into feeder by hand.
Pack and/or assemble finished product or parts- Pack totes, cartons or bags using tool, or by hand with cans or parts. Places chipboard between layers. Assembles parts such as mating cover to bottom of a tin.
Quality- Operator removes cans or parts from line hourly, visually inspects, takes measurements and records data. Operator periodically watches line feed into packing station to look for variation in product.
Replace packing carton or bag on conveyor on auto packers- Operator uses a foot pedal to release full bag or carton of product onto a roller conveyor. Operator pulls full bag or carton a few feet on rollers. Operator opens empty bag, sets into fixture and locks it in place.
Clear minor jams-Clears jam by removing jammed part(s) from machine using screwdriver and pliers.
Job duties may vary from day to day depending on workload and task assignment.
