Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain excellent rapport and relationships with agents through virtual means like telephone and e-mail as well as frequent agency visits.
- Maintain active file of prospective agents and recommend selection based on loss experience of agents’ Companies.
- Orient new agents in Company policies and procedures, including bringing agents, where practical, to Company’s home office to meet senior management and administrative staff.
- Educate and train agents in company products, systems (AgentPak®), commission benefits and marketing programs.
- Serve as liaison between agents and Company, assisting them with technical situations as well as in obtaining new and renewal business.
- On a monthly basis, keep track of annual production goals for a specified territory, regulating and adjusting sales efforts accordingly.
- Attend Trade Association and other industry-related meetings and conventions.
- Collect market insights on competitor products, pricing, services and technology advancements and initiatives.
- Make suggestions based on market analysis to improve company’s product and enhance the company's competitive position.
- Achieve written premium, loss ratio and retention results for specific territories.
- Partner with Regional Manager to create strategies toward achieving sales objectives and territory management.
- Collaborate with Regional Manager, Manager of National Accounts, Underwriting, Actuary and other teams to ensure competitive positioning of products and operational capabilities.
- Terminate and rehabilitate agencies as needed and as agreed to with the Regional Manager.
- Communicate product changes and enhancement with agents and regional partners.
- Develop a sustainable competitive intelligence gathering process that identifies and tracks our competitors and agents and leverages insights for company product, price and process improvements.
- Maintain and oversee contracts with agencies and ensure adherence to company policies, state insurance regulations, and industry compliance requirements in all marketing activities.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to review materials, agreements, and co-op programs.
- Work closely with underwriting, claims, operations, and customer services to ensure agent and policyholder satisfaction.
- Pursue continuing education with support from The Norfolk & Dedham Group® to expand skill sets supporting the Company and Department and to remain apprised of the actions of competitors and disruptors.
- Participate in and facilitate the team dynamic of the entire Marketing department.
Requirements:
- 3 or more years of experience working in the insurance industry in marketing, claims, or underwriting
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Sales driven with a high energy level
- Collaborative with a customer-service mindset.
- Must maintain a good driving record and have a valid and current driver’s license
- Independent self-starter capable of producing in both structured and unstructured settings
Desired Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, or a related field.
- General insurance acumen (CPCU preferred, required to pursue upon start)
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Able to develop a deep knowledge of company services, products, insurance contracts, risk funding and rating plans, and industry trends
