The SVP/Private Banking Officer is a senior-level relationship manager responsible for delivering customized financial solutions to high-net-worth individuals, executives, families, and business owners. This role is pivotal in driving the growth and retention of the Private Banking portfolio through strategic client engagement, cross-functional collaboration, and expert financial guidance. The SVP serves as a trusted advisor, leveraging deep product knowledge and market insight to meet complex client needs across banking, lending, and wealth management. This position requires a high level of professionalism, discretion, and leadership, with a strong emphasis on client experience, business development, and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management & Retention
- Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of high-net-worth clients, delivering personalized banking and lending solutions.
- Evaluate loan requests by interviewing applicants, analyzing financial data, and determining creditworthiness. Structure credit terms including repayment methods, collateral, pricing, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Understand client needs and goals through detailed financial assessments and tailor strategies accordingly. Introduce new products and services aligned with client objectives and market trends.
- Resolve client issues by gathering details, researching data, and delivering timely, satisfactory solutions.
- Retain and grow existing deposit and loan relationships through proactive service and financial guidance. Conduct regular portfolio reviews and proactive communication to keep clients informed and engaged.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior Private Banking Officers to ensure seamless client service.
Business Development & Market Engagement
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of all bank consumer and commercial products and services.
- Solicit new banking relationships (business/personal deposits and loans) through prospecting, referrals, and external partnerships.
- Refer clients to internal partners (Commercial, Wealth Management, Mortgage, Insurance, Treasury) to deliver holistic financial solutions.
- Participate in professional associations and community activities to enhance visibility and support personal/professional development.
- Monitor competitor offerings and recommend enhancements to Bell Bank’s product suite.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Process daily overdrafts and monitor technical exception reports to maintain operational integrity.
- Ensure all client documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare customized client correspondence and presentation materials to support sales and relationship efforts.
- Contribute to the development of departmental best practices, service models, and training initiatives.
- Support operational efficiency and service excellence across the Private Banking team.

Education, Experience, and Other Expectations
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Professional certifications such as CFA, CFP or similar, are preferred.
- 10 or more years of experience in private banking, commercial lending, or financial services.
- Local travel to meet with clients and applicants is required.
