Part-time Activity Director in the Long Term Care facility. 8 days per bi-weekly pay period, including at least one Saturday each month, 7:30-4PM to plan and assist with activities for the residents.

Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION AND RELATIONSHIP TO TOTAL ORGANIZATION:
Originate, schedule, and supervise activity programming in the facility within the limits set by the attending physicians, and with the active support of the Administrator. Confer periodically with the DON concerning individual resident needs, limitations and progress, and scheduling of special events within overall resident care program. Utilize activities to suit resident needs and fit them into the overall resident care routines and objectives. Encourage individuals to participate in activities and document resident participation. Summarize participation and individual response to team members to aid in coordination of overall program. Recruit, instruct and supervise volunteer workers and entertainers as approved by the DON. Based on knowledge of usage, order and maintain supplies of materials needed for activities.

- Awareness of the value of Public Relations and through activities relate to families and community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct the selection of projects, securing material, and involving the residents in activities which are designed with the physical and mental limitations of the resident in mind.
- Prepare 1 on 1 material: Tapes, books, magazines, etc. for volunteers for 1 on 1 activities.
- Do daily charting of activity attendance and involvement in care center routine.
- Assist families with special events and activities pertaining to their family.
- Attend staff meetings and department head meeting as scheduled.
- Assure that resident rights are being adhered to by all staff. Provide a role model for the staff in interactions with residents, families and visitors.
- Assume other duties which may be assigned.
- Functions and operates within the department budget.
Physical Demands:
This position will require periods of walking, standing, and sitting. May also require some lifting.

Minimum educational requirements
High School Diploma, CNA Certification preferred or willing to obtain, Activity Director Certification, or willing to obtain.
Experience:
Experience with working with the elderly preferred. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with elderly patients and cooperate with other nursing staff members.
