About the Role:
The Athletics Gift Officer is an experienced front line gift officer who is responsible for all aspects of programming that support athletics fundraising. This includes developing strategy and executing personal solicitation of prospects and donors in coordination with Athletic Director, Director of University and Corporate Partnerships, and coaching staff, partnership with annual giving and alumni relations teams to ensure direct response communications are timely and accurate, fundraising event coordination and oversight, gameday consultation with Athletics staff to maximize spectator engagement, and creation of a long term fundraising plan development for capital, endowment, and restricted annual athletic priorities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- 3+ years of front line fundraising or equivalent experience
- Event experience that informs increasing sponsorship and participation
- Demonstrated skill in content editing, including copy editing and proofreading
- Proven analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with coworkers and as well as donors, faculty, and students.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment, tact, and discretion.
- High organizational ability, adherence to strict deadlines, and ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects and priorities.
- High professional and ethical standards for handling confidential information.
- Ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds and perspectives in a respectful and inclusive manner.
- Love for collegiate athletics!
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working with collegiate athletics staff
- Knowledge of non-profit industry and evident understanding of impact of philanthropy and engagement in advancement work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Athletic Director and coaches to ensure proper cultivation and solicitation of all prospects and donors to Griffin Athletics.
- Oversee and manage Griffins Club (Westminster booster club) membership and related events.
- Plan strategic direction and support the execution of athletic direct response communications; including strategy for retention, acquisition and upgrades, while using approved University priorities and messaging for alumni, parents, and friends outreach for athletic revenue generation. This includes event collatoral and execution, online solicitation and stewardship communication, direct mail, and at times telemarketing efforts.
- Work collaboratively with Athletics and Advancement staff to message appropriately for all Athletic fundraising campaigns, cases for support of campus priorities, and stewardship materials as necessary.
- Meet monthly expectations for contacts and visits with donors and prospects, including meeting annual fundraising goals for increasing donors and dollars for approved Athletic priorities.
- Oversee giving day projects for Athletics and all other athletics crowdfunding/crowdsourcing campaigns.
- Manage and secure corporate sponsorships in collaboration with Director of University and Corporate Partnerships.
- Oversee and manage sponsorships as well as operations for annual golf tournament and new events as identified.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
