The Manager is responsible for operations, performance and the overall quality of care for Sleep Lab and Neurodiagnostic within the inpatient, ambulatory setting and community relationships as appropriate. The Manager is accountable for the department deliverables and the development and direct supervision of team members and ensures adequate staffing levels, appropriately trained staff, and the most efficient use of resources.  The Manager will delegate to his/her leadership team and therapists in the clinical practice model as appropriate. The Manager provides professional/clinical expertise within the department and continually facilitates improvement of current work processes to provide high-quality service and efficient use of resources.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for recruitment, selection and orientation of new team members, as appropriate
  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to direct reports relative to their performance and ensure that each one completes an annual performance plan. 
  • Facilitate teamwork among department staff and between departments to help ensure seamless service delivery to patients and families, provide an infrastructure for team participation, and enhance group decision-making and other team dynamics.

    Provide opportunities for timely and appropriate individual and group staff development in accordance with scope of practice.
  • Develop standardized clinical operational policies and procedures appropriate for each service 
  • Develop departmental staffing plans to ensure patient safety and most efficient use of resources in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Flex staffing as necessary across functions and sites.
  • Participate in institution wide committees as appropriate and seek opportunities to serve in a leadership role.  Participate in, and/or coordinate, education and training, research, advocacy, and community outreach activities.
  • In conjunction with the Directors, establish and communicate a vision for department in support of the organizational Strategic Plan.
  • Clearly present status of department’s fiscal performance to senior leadership and key stakeholders.  
  • Assume the lead in the development of the budgets for both departments and relevant satellite operations. Monitor expenses, account for monthly variances, and keep the senior leadership informed. 
  • Contribute to department and organizational growth through collaboration with Director, senior leadership and strategy for new program and satellite development.
  • Ensure quality outcomes and continuous improvement of work processes through data collection and benchmarking efforts with other children’s hospitals.
  • Initiate performance improvement activities to enhance delivery of patient and family-centered care, patient satisfaction, and multi-disciplinary communication in accordance with the organization’s PDSA model for learning and improvement. Establish and maintain Balanced Scorecards for each department to track progress toward attainment of performance improvement goals.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the population-specific differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice.  Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers. Demonstrate support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the CT Children’s Standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

Education:

A bachelor’s degree in related health care is required; a master’s degree in related healt care is preferred.

Experience:

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of clinical leadership experience

At least 1 year of pediatric clinical leadership experience

Preferred Experience:

5–7 years of clinical leadership experience

3 years of pediatric clinical leadership experience

 

License / Certification / Registration:

Certification as an RPSGT or R.EEG.T and current CPR certification are required.

Knowledge

  • Clinical competencies and procedures in accordance with state practice acts and national professional organizations.
  • Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) coding for physical therapy as indicated by the American Medical Association.
  • Third party reimbursement systems and coding/billing procedures
  • Local and National advocacy agencies

Skills

  • Basic word processing and data systems.
  • Experience with electronic health record
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills and able to manage multiple priorities. 
  • Able to lead team of clinicians, leaders, and non-clinical team members across multiple locations and 24/7 operations

Abilities

  • Demonstrate advanced clinical practice across the scope of sleep lab or neurodiagnostic
  • Provide managerial oversight and leadership to a busy professional/clinical practice, both inpatient and outpatient.
  • Analyze financial information and make budgetary and programmatic decisions.
