UX/UI Designer II
Irvine, CA/ Full-time
Your responsibilities
This position offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of how users interact with smart appliances, with a strong focus on UX, Visual Design and AI. The UX/UI Designer will work effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams of industrial designers, engineers, developers, and product management to create innovative solutions that meet both user needs and key business objectives. They are central to delivering notable perceptions of our brands and creating delightful customer experiences with exceptional results. The UX/UI Designer is responsible for design projects from multiple product categories that span cooking, cooling, and dish care. They are generalists, working in the strategic stages of projects, using classic UX and UI prototyping skills to craft narratives that tell convincing stories of what we should do - and why. They understand working within and helping influence global brand design guidelines, are able to articulate necessary variances and can identify regional needs.
· Think critically and strategically while translating concepts from idea to reality through sketches, web-based and in-person collaboration, journey maps, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes (lo-fi, mid-fi, and hi-fi), and pixel-perfect delivery to developers.
· Create user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI for embedded appliance interfaces, ensuring alignment with consumer needs, design intent, and strategic business objectives for our brands.
· Design intelligent, context-aware user experiences for appliances
· Has experience using AI tools to complete design projects and if willing to experiment.
· Identify and define use cases for AI-enhanced UX and guide corresponding design explorations for home appliances.
· Develop detailed UI design specifications (screen design, motion, animation, iconography, sound) to guide implementation by internal and external teams.
· Produce high-quality design documentation that captures detail-oriented user flows, integral to guiding developer and engineer teams.
· Collaborate with Industrial Design to integrate UI seamlessly into the total product experience.
· Maintain alignment and communication with external agencies.
· Network and collaborate with the global design team.
· Align our design and user interface strategy with market requirements.
· Contribute to visual consistency and brand alignment across platforms and product categories.
· Monitor trends and consumer insights to identify market opportunities.
· As a lifelong learner, keep up with technology and design trends, striving for our interfaces to be modern and innovative.
Your profile
· Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor’s degree in HCI, Multimedia Design, Visual Design or similar areas) – Required
· 3-5 Years of Experience (User Interface Design or User Experience Design) – Required
· Experience with embedded user interfaces or industrial design background is a plus
· Comprehensive brand design knowledge and experience
· Proficient visual design skills
· Experience with connected devices and IoT.
· Understanding and experience on how to manage a portfolio differentiation as well as a design system
· Strong understanding of usability heuristics and design principles (wireframes, user flows, information architecture, personas)
· Expert knowledge in Figma, Adobe Suite and Miro or similar collaborative working tools with openness to learn
· Ability to guide, assist, and or run user research as a part of your design process, with knowledge of user research methods (A/B testing etc)
· Analytical skills and sense for future trends
· Experience with diverse teams and maintaining a collaborative dialogue with key stakeholders across the world/time zones
· Present strategic design concepts in a simplified manner with effective communication to organization/stakeholders
· Appreciation and integration of diverse perspectives

Your Pay & Benefits
The pay range posted for this position is based on the location noted in the posting title. Exact compensation offered may vary based on your specific skillset and work location. If the position is bonus or incentive eligible then the payments range from 0% to 200% of target with details laid out within the plan document.
Benefits offered include the following:

· Two weeks of paid vacation for all non-temporary status new hires below Director level positions. Vacation entitlement increases based on years of service with BSH.
· Unlimited paid vacation for all Director and above level positions.
· The greater of (a) 40 hours of paid sick leave or (b) state or local minimum requirements for paid leave (Non-Production Line).
· 40 hours of paid personal leave (Production Line).
· 12 days of paid holidays per year (max 8 hours paid per day).
