Role Purpose

The Senior Energy & Sustainability Analyst will join JLL to support a key client account with the development, implementation and management of energy and sustainability programs in pursuit of the client's strategic sustainability strategy. 

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days/week on-site with the client in either their Charlotte, NC office or Philadelphia, PA office.

Responsibilities includes:

• Sustainability Analysis – analyze energy, waste, recycling and water consumption trends for anomalies, insights and opportunities.
• Maintain completeness and accuracy of utility data, property data, etc. in databases to ensure consistency and accuracy of reporting and the client's corresponding GHG inventory.
• Program support for strategic sustainability initiatives led by the Director of Sustainability and/or the client.
• Program lead for tactical activities in support of the client's sustainability program.
• Reporting – generate site and portfolio reports from data management systems regarding energy consumption and projected consumption based on conservation opportunities.
• Participate in the client's engagement and communication activities.
• Act as a subject matter expert representing sustainability throughout the account.
• Act as support to represent sustainability for general account initiatives and activities.
• Engaging with the wider JLL platform team to leverage best practice ideas and innovations to bring back to the client account.
• Resolve utility account issues by working with utility companies and bill processing firms as needed.
• Participate in sustainability team process improvement projects.

What this job involves

Key responsibilities include:

• Performing data analysis and calculations to produce monthly, quarterly and annual energy, environmental and sustainability reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintaining completeness and accuracy of utility data, property data, etc. in databases to ensure consistency and accuracy of reporting.
• Assist in maintaining client's GHG inventory environmental reporting program in accordance with globally recognized protocols, such as the GHG Protocol, and support the client's third-party annual assurance activities.
• Provide support in development and implementation of energy & sustainability management strategy and related initiatives.
• Identify anomalies and perform gap analyses of the energy & sustainability data and work with the client to include corrective actions, including measures which improve the efficiency of data capture.
• Performing utility review and resolving utility account issues by working with utility companies and bill processing firms.
• Undertaking data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for operational improvement, energy conservation opportunities, and potential cost reduction.
• Providing support to the Director of Sustainability to provide the necessary energy and sustainability metrics that are being tracked.
• Support the client's ongoing crew engagement and communication activities, including development of content for online posts and attendance at sustainability related events including green teams and earth day.
• Supporting the client's waste diversion programs and JLL’s activities in developing new initiatives for program expansion.
• Liaise with other client account JLL streams including facility managers, engineering, Community Mangers, HSE and other teams to integrate sustainability throughout the account.
• Identifying, investigating and evaluating water conservation opportunities for feasibility.

Requirements - Essential

• University Degree (Science, engineering, math or related fields).
• In-depth understanding of Greenhouse Gas Emission scopes and reporting including experience running Green House Gas Emission calculations.
• Experience performing data analysis and identifying the gaps and trends in data.
• Proficient in using MS Excel, Access and SQL to combine and analyze data from various sources and generate reports and graphics.  Must be able to combine large volumes of data for consolidated reporting.
• Familiarity with waste conservation measures.
• Detail-oriented with excellent time management and follow-through.
• Familiarity with sustainability related certification and benchmarking tools.
• Basic understanding of HVAC and building energy systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively and provide detailed or brief explanation of the data analysis results and program key points.
• Understand the client’s energy & sustainability goals and provide support in implementation of the program to reach those goals.

Requirements – Desirable

• Technical understanding of the most common HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems.
• LEED credentials or other green building certification.
• In-depth understanding of energy and water conservation measures.
• Experienced with benchmarking and analyzing utility data to drive sustainability measures.
• Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus.
• Ability to communicate directly with the client and manage expectations.
• Ability to develop an energy & sustainability program
