About the Department
Position Duties
- Oversee and track the purchasing, leasing, and renting of vehicles to meet departmental needs.
- Conduct comprehensive analyses and produce clear, data-driven reports on fleet metrics, including acquisition progress, vehicle composition, costs, and overall performance.
- Perform in-depth research and analytical work in cost management, vehicle replacement scheduling, performance benchmarking, staffing requirements, and strategic planning.
- Plan, coordinate, and administer the department’s vehicle and specialized equipment replacement program; analyze fleet utilization and recommend replacements or reallocations based on operational needs.
- Assess departmental vehicle requirements and allocate vehicles to divisions accordingly to ensure optimal resource distribution.
- Track and document all departmental motor vehicle accidents, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Track and quantifies other department assets which includes, mountain bikes, gas cards, defibrillators, road flares etc.
- Prepare proposals and manage vehicle repair and maintenance contracts to maintain service quality and compliance.
- Conduct audits and inspections to verify that all vehicles are properly maintained, repaired, and utilized in accordance with department standards.
- Coordinate and oversee the purchase, deployment, and preventive maintenance of all department vehicles to maximize efficiency and lifespan.
Minimum Qualifications
-Two to three years of experience in data analytics
· Municipal or Commercial fleet experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of databases and experience with Microsoft, Excel, and large datasets.
· Proficient in processing, inspecting, transforming and modeling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions, and supporting decision making.
· Skill in producing clean, articulate reports.
· Knowledge and understanding automotive supply chain and related logistics.
· Strong analytical skills, with an eye for clear messaging.
· Working with different Department units to understand how their operations affect their vehicle needs.
· Communicating with vendors and managing contracts.
· Strong organizational skills.
· Preparing and maintaining accurate and concise records and files.
· Performing a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines.
· Experience with
o Microsoft Suite: generating and manipulating Excel documents.
o Smartsheet: managing an environment of interconnected, dynamic trackers.
o Reporting: Summarizing analysis and distilling communications into clear narratives.
· Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
· Preferable knowledge of basic functions of law enforcement agencies, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations.
· Knowledge of databases, entry into databases, and tracking and presenting data.
· Skill in utilizing business and policy acumen to analyze and solve complex problems.
· Skill in qualitative and quantitative data analysis and communication.
· Skill in communicating verbally and in writing.
· Skill in developing program/project vision, action plans, schedules and key metrics.
· Skill in facilitating meetings, communication, and the completion of key project deliverables.
