POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Project Manager supports the development, acquisition and execution of renewable energy projects, manages the integration of acquisitions to Kruger’s existing asset portfolio, leads and manages projects to develop and construct new renewable energy projects in Solar, Storage, Wind and Hydro, and manages projects associated with the maintenance and improvement of assets in the Kruger Energy Portfolio.

Location : New York or Northeast US

REPORTING

 

The Project Manager reports to the Director of Engineering. 

The Project Manager will provide guidance and supervision to project engineers and engineering interns including external firms and contractors.

 

Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage renewable power generation development and improvement projects, in order to meet the Companies’ strategic objectives. 

  • Lead, manage, design, carry out and complete capital projects assigned to him, in order to meet operational requirements and ensure long-term infrastructure and equipment reliability. Participate in the implementation of strategic capital projects. This is inclusive of completely internal mandated projects or projects where an EPC or GC is utilized for execution. 

  • Assist in developing and construct renewable energy projects through all phases, from preliminary studies, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and control and close out and handover to operation. Select and manage 3rd party Engineering Consultants, EPC’s, contractors and suppliers when required. 

  • Accountable for the entire project’s scope, team, resources, safety of staff and success or failure of the project. 

  • Full responsibility for the execution of new projects and mandates, including and not limited to budget and scope of requests for capital expenditures, construction, quality of work, application of KEI contractor management guidelines, all aspects of reporting, contractual interface, stakeholder management, and handover to operations.

  • Provide technical expertise to the operation and maintenance of power generation equipment at all existing renewable power plants. 

  • Lead condition and engineering assessment of equipment and facilities in the field and help develop short, medium and long term solutions. 

  • Work with other project engineers/managers in the group, as well as external consultants, to achieve his assigned objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Electrical or Civil Engineering preferred.

  • Possess at least 7-12 years or relevant experience as Project Manager in Renewable Energy (Solar preferred) or Industrial sectors;

  • Construction site experience preferably in renewable energy with a focus on hydro or solar projects. Experience in New York would be an asset.

  • Strong understanding of engineering and construction drawings.

  • Ability to navigate permits and both project and equipment specific contracts.

  • Show proficiency in relevant computer programs, such as spreadsheets, MS Project and databases in the MS Office suite of applications;

  • Be available for travel in Canada and the United States (40% of time);

  • Team player, internal & external stakeholder engagement, community presence, autonomous and entrepreneurial.

  • Balance of technical commercial and human skill set;

  • Strong communication and presentation skills;

  • Able to navigate uncertainty and handles stress well.

  • PMP certification will be considered a very strong asset;

  • Demonstrate proficiency in French and English, is a plus;

  • Understanding/interest in operations would be an asset.
