The Department of Instructional Leadership and Academic Curriculum in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education at the University of Oklahoma-Norman Campus is pleased to invite passionate, creative, innovative, and dynamic individuals with practical and scholarly experience to be part of a robust program and academic community. We are seeking applications for a full-time (nine-month), rank renewable term, assistant professor position to teach in and administer the First Year Experience Program. We seek candidates who are devoted to the welcoming and challenging of first year education majors.
The responsibilities of the position consist of but are not limited to teaching courses in the First Year Experience (FYE) Program; administering the FYE program, including the hiring of instructors and organizing shared experiences for students within the college and wider university; providing service to the department, college, university, and profession; and participating in other activities as appropriate. The FYE program is geared to help first-year students explore their educational past, present, and future. To deepen the understanding of learners and learning, the course considers three general questions: What is and what counts as learning? What are the significant influences on education and schooling? What is the role of society and community members in shaping and sustaining education systems?
Required Qualifications:
· Earned MEd/MA/MS by the position start date in curriculum and instruction or closely related field from an accredited university
· At least three years’ experience of teaching in public and/or private schools in grades PK-12
· Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduates and make contributions to the field of education through curriculum or professional development, research, publications, and presentations at regional and national meetings
Desired Qualifications:
· Earned PhD by the position start date in curriculum and instruction or closely related field
· Eligible for state licensure in education
· Instructional practices that are well-grounded in current theories of undergraduate education
· Ability to effectively integrate technology into instruction
· Experience providing professional services/supports to students, teachers, schools, or communities
We seek candidates who will provide inspiration and leadership in the First Year Experience Program while actively contributing to effective teaching and service within the department. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their teaching, service, and research to the excellence of the academic community and who will build collaborative ties within and beyond our department, in the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education, and the University.

Candidates invited for a campus interview will be expected to interact with current undergraduate students, make a teaching demonstration, and a presentation on their vision for the First Year Experience program.
