At Maxim Crane Works, we are the nation’s leader in crane rental and lifting solutions—and we’re looking for a Licensed Senior Project Engineer (California PE) to bring innovation, precision, and leadership to our Engineering team in Sacramento, CA.
In this role, you’ll serve as the technical backbone supporting our Engineers, Sales team, and field crews to deliver safe, efficient, and creative lift solutions. From custom-designed lifting devices to Critical Lift Planning, your work directly impacts real-world projects across multiple industries.
Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
What You’ll Do
- Review and verify lift designs and calculations to ensure accuracy and safety.
- Develop detailed crane layouts and rigging plans for Government, private, commercial, and industrial projects.
- Partner with Architects, Engineers, contractors, and crane manufacturers to ensure seamless equipment integration and project execution.
- Create 2D and 3D design models using AutoCAD and other drafting tools.
- Perform ground bearing pressure and structural analyses to support equipment setup and stability.
- Design specialized lifting devices and assemblies for unique project challenges.
- Mentor junior engineers and review their work to maintain technical excellence.
- Conduct site visits to observe installations and provide on-site engineering support.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license (required).
- 3-5 years engineering experience in vertical construction methods.
- Advanced knowledge of:
- Applied geometry and statics
- AISC Steel Construction design
- ACI Concrete design methods Geotechnical and Foundation analysis
- Wood design knowledge. NDS or Similar
- AutoCAD (3D preferred)
- Prior crane industry experience is highly valued.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
