The primary objective of this position is to grow the retail investment department of Bell Bank by fostering relationships within the bank through sales and service of loan, deposit and commercial products. This position promotes and sells retail investment products and services by interacting with customers and potential customers according to established sales policies and procedures. This position will be measured through increased assets under management as well as bank cross sell. This position is also responsible for strategic marketing and the self motivation to find and invest able assets both internally and externally.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Promote Bell Investments products and services to the public and to other bank staff and personnel. Contribute to division marketing and development programs and maintain personal marketing programs through bank office referral development, individual and group presentations, direct mail programs and other business development activities.
  • Keep informed on bank products and services and refer customers to bank and division staff for appropriate products and services.
  • Keep informed on new investment products and demonstrate services and products to prospects.
  • Interview current and prospective customers to obtain information, including financial background and investment goals and objectives. Develop customer profile and define appropriate investment strategies. Offer and utilize financial planning tools to properly develop financial strategies and uncover customer needs.
  • Open customer accounts, initiate and confirm customer orders, maintain customer files and records and maintain all required reports.
  • Work with business clients to package LPL products.
  • Ensure that all orders and other customer communications are suitable and in compliance with all applicable NASD and other regulatory requirements. Take appropriate action to resolve customer service problems.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of continuing education as required for licensing purposes as well as to maintain skills and proficiency in financial products and services.
  • Comply with all securities and bank compliance rules and regulations including customer privacy. Maintain compliance with broker/dealer rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Participate in events that demonstrate support for the community and increase business opportunities for the Bank.
  • Comply with all policies/procedures related to the new account process.
  • Assist in the training of Bank personnel as needed.
  • Know by name and face as many customers and employees as possible, calling them by name as often as possible.
  • Know and practice LOCBUTN, our Golden Rules, and Bell Bank Customer Service Standards.
  • Know, understand, and live the company values and bottom line.
  • Conduct activities consistent with established Bell Bank policies, procedures and systems, the Bell Bank Employee Conduct policies, the Bank Secrecy Act and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • All employees are responsible for information security, including compliance with policies and standards which protect sensitive information.
  • Prompt and reliable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Skills Required:

  • B.A. or equivalent business experience.
  • Series 7 and 65/66 securities license.
  • Accident/Health, Life and Variable Annuities license.
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry (securities, banking and insurance).
  • Basic knowledge of the stock and bond markets and how they function.
  • Basic understanding of financial planning principal and theory.
  • Knowledge of investment products and services.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and bank personnel.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self motivation, maturity and integrity.
  • Time management and problem solving skills.
