CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- New employees of the Department of Military Affairs are required to participate in a direct deposit/electronic transfer program.
- The Department of Military Affairs is paid on a monthly basis.
- This position is a Cooperative Agreement position.
- As a CANDIDATE, you are required to provide documentation (i.e., High School Diploma or Equivalency, College Transcripts, ETC.) to verify meeting these Minimum Qualifications.
- Must be able to obtain a completion of a favorable National Agency Check background investigation clearance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
- Six (6) years of professional, full-time-equivalent experience in Environmental Engineering or related field;
- Education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide assistance to armory personnel, with their hazardous material handling to include: record keeping, developing inventories, locating material safety data sheets, storage and container organization and labeling, and preparing turn-in documents for hazardous waste disposal at maintenance and readiness centers throughout Southwest Florida. Provide technical assistance to include: review federal, state, and local regulations, policies and procedures and implementation as required.
- Complete facility walk-throughs and internal assessments to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Log and track deficiencies utilizing the Environmental Performance Assessment (EPAS) system to ensure corrective actions are taken in the appropriate timeframe.
- Manage and respond to spills across all FLARNG locations. Ensure proper spill response equipment is on hand at areas with a potential spill release. Act as on-scene coordinator to ensure appropriate spill response procedures are taken and provide expertise for any clean-up activities. Track spills and response activities and ensure proper reporting requirements are met.
- Assist with preparation and instruction of the Environmental Officer Course and web-based training to include course presentation, updating and creating curriculum, and putting together course packets and other materials.
- Review and assist with the revision as necessary of Spill Plans, Hazardous Waste Management Plan, Environmental SOPs, and environmental memorandums. Maintain and review Army, federal, state, and local environmental regulations/policies pertinent to assigned program.
- Complete trainings to maintain certifications and enhance job knowledge as required.

- Knowledge of the terminology, principles, and analytical techniques of the physical or natural sciences.
- Knowledge of data collection and analysis principles and procedures.
- Knowledge of military training and the potential impacts on environmental requirements.
- Ability to collect, evaluates, analyze, and interpret scientific or technical data.
- Ability to coordinate as a staff member. Ability to prepare technical reports.
- Ability to use personal computers.
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to environmental programs.
- Ability to understand and follow legislative policy direction as established in Florida statutes.
