Position: Electrical Engineer – EGSE, AI&T – Quantum Space
Location: Rockville, MD
Commitment: Full-time
Who We’re Looking For
Quantum Space is developing high-performance spacecraft designed for agility, autonomy, and mission longevity in cislunar space. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer – EGSE, AI&T to lead the development and integration of electrical ground support equipment (EGSE) systems and to support spacecraft assembly, integration, and test (AI&T) activities.
This role is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer who thrives at the intersection of hardware development, systems integration, and test execution. You will be a key contributor to ensuring safe and successful vehicle build-up and mission readiness.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
- Design, procure, assemble, and operate EGSE systems for spacecraft AI&T including power distribution, communications, telemetry/command, RF test, and custom hardware interfaces
- Design and build EGSE harnesses for interfacing test equipment and spacecraft systems
- Lead spacecraft electrical system integration across avionics, EPS, communications, and propulsion subsystems
- Write and execute implementation plans, test procedures, and build documentation
- Troubleshoot and resolve anomalies observed during integration and test operations
- Support vehicle-level environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, EMI/EMC)
- Support program milestones including PDR, CDR, MRR, and TRR
- Operate within cleanroom and ESD-controlled environments around flight hardware
- Create technical documentation and interface control documents (ICDs) for EGSE and AI&T handoffs across teams
- Develop and run automated test scripts and code for hardware validation and regression testing
What It Takes
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience supporting spacecraft flight hardware and integration environments
- Experience architecting and deploying EGSE systems including power, command & telemetry, RF, and custom interfaces
- Familiarity with spacecraft integration processes and spacecraft build flows
- Ability to lead subsystem and vehicle-level electrical integration and testing
- Strong skills in technical writing, procedure authorship, and troubleshooting
- Experience developing and executing automated test scripts (e.g., Python)
- Proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies
- Experience with code verification and validation best practices
- Familiarity with ESD-safe handling procedures and cleanroom protocols
- Strong cross-functional awareness and systems-level thinking
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, iterative environment where priorities shift quickly
Nice-to-Have Experience
- Strong background in core EE fundamentals (analog/digital circuits, power, grounding, etc.)
- Experience with spacecraft data buses and interfaces (RS422/RS485, SpaceWire, Ethernet, SERDES, LVDS, CAN, Discrete IO, Cameralink)
- Familiarity with avionics system architecture, electrical power system (EPS) architecture, and spacecraft power modeling
- Hands-on experience with ECAD tools like OrCAD or Altium for schematic capture, layout, and parts library management
- Experience with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTSpice, PSpice)
- Experience with FPGA-based systems and HDL programming (VHDL, Verilog)
- Certification in NASA-STD-8739.4, IPC-620, J-STD-001, IPC-7711/7721
- Experience authoring and validating spacecraft electrical system requirements
- Project management or test campaign leadership experience
What You’ll Get
- Ownership – Lead the development and operation of EGSE systems across mission phases
- Innovation – Build custom tools and processes to accelerate integration and test
- Impact – Be a critical enabler for mission readiness and system-level success
- Growth – Join a rapidly growing engineering team at the core of hardware execution
- Compensation – Competitive salary, equity, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, generous leave, FSA, 401(k) matching, and equity sharing
