Percussion Consultant
We are seeking a percussion instructor with experience building world-class percussion programs to give a jumpstart to the percussion program in New Canaan Public Schools. A strong percussion program in our district will provide many benefits:
It provides an opportunity for many different types of students to participate in music because of its low barrier to entry.
It provides the students opportunities to perform in a highly-visible and exciting ensemble that performs at football games, parades, school- and town-functions, etc.
Connecticut is considered the home of rudimental drumming, a style of drumming rooted in militaristic discipline and technique that stems from the use of drummers in the military. A lively percussion program enables students to access their local heritage.
