About the Department
The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.
The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) is seeking a motivated attorney to join its Bureau of Legal Services in Baton Rouge. This position offers the opportunity to provide high-level legal counsel on contracts, procurements, and agreements that impact health programs statewide. Working under the Legal–Contracts and Procurement Section, the attorney will handle complex legal matters, including 1) Contracts; (2) Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Solicitations for Proposals (SFPs); (3) Procurements; (4) Cooperative Endeavor Agreements (CEAs); (5) Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs); (6) Protests; and (7) other contractual legal matters/issues, while supporting LDH’s mission to protect and promote the health of Louisiana’s citizens. Job Duties:
- Provide legal counsel on transactions and issues involving property owned, controlled, or managed by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH).
- Serve as specialized counsel on complex litigation projects, including procurement protests and related proceedings.
- Assist attorneys in handling Judicial Review matters and other legal proceedings as needed.
- Review, draft, and negotiate legal documents related to property, contracts, and procurement issues.
- Advise LDH leadership and staff on compliance with state laws, regulations, and policies regarding property and procurement.
- Represent LDH in legal proceedings and provide guidance on risk management and dispute resolution strategies.

Compensation: This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity.
Attorney 1 – $27.08 hr / $2,166.40 bi-weekly
Attorney 2 – $28.98 hr / $2,318.40 bi-weekly
Attorney 3 – $32.02 hr / $2,561.60 bi-weekly
Attorney 4 – $34.26 hr / $2,740.80 bi-weekly
