We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Account Director to join our global Earned Media team. In this leadership role, you will oversee multiple client accounts, shape innovative strategies, and drive the team to deliver outstanding results. Strong editorial copywriting is essential for this role, and additional language skills are welcome but not required.
The role will support the team particularly across 54’s Asian events schedule with support across the business’ brands and destination portfolio. Candidates should feel comfortable with regular travel, as well as working on multiple projects and to tight deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and lead PR strategies that align with clients’ business objectives.
- Provide strategic counsel to clients on earned media, crisis management, and communication initiatives.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and ensure clients benefit from cutting-edge practices.
Client Management:
- Serve as the senior point of contact for key clients, building trust and long-term relationships.
- Manage client expectations and ensure satisfaction through consistent delivery of high-quality work.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the PR team, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Support the professional growth of team members through coaching, feedback, and training.
Campaign Oversight:
- Supervise the planning, execution, and evaluation of PR campaigns.
- Ensure deliverables meet agency standards and client expectations.
- Oversee the development of press releases, editorial content, and other communications materials.
Media & Industry Engagement:
- Established relationships with sports and news media and creators across East and Southeast Asia
- Maintain and update media contact databases.
- Regularly meet and develop relationships with existing and new journalist and influencer contacts relevant to 54’s business and clients
- Management of tournament Media Centres
- Monitor and report on industry trends, competitor activities, and media coverage.
Business Development:
- Drive agency growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities.
- Lead the preparation and delivery of compelling pitches and proposals.
- Build the agency’s profile through thought leadership and networking.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Experience:
- 7+ years in PR, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in managing high-profile accounts and delivering measurable results.
Skills and Attributes:
- Exceptional English communication skills (native fluency required), with strong editorial copywriting and storytelling abilities.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate client goals into impactful campaigns.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive, results-driven, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
- Fluency in multiple languages is an advantage. English mandatory. Mandarin and/or Cantonese beneficial.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with PR tools such as Cision, Meltwater, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of digital media and social media strategies is highly desirable.
Industry Knowledge:
- The candidate must have golf knowledge and a background in the sports and entertainment industry.
