The Hamilton General Hospital (HGH), as part of the Hamilton Health Sciences family, is the regional center of excellence for several programs including Trauma, Neurosurgery, Stroke, Cardiovascular and Burns. As one of 4 critical care units at the HGH site, this 16 bed Level 3 ICU provides highly skilled tertiary and quaternary care to a population of over 2.3 million residents within the Central South region of Ontario, and supports the regional trauma, neurosurgical and stroke programs in addition to offering specialized care for clinical programs including neurosciences, trauma and burns, and spine. Using a multidisciplinary and collaborative team approach that is dedicated to the principles of patient-and family-centered care, we treat highly complex patients using leading edge treatment modalities. In partnership with Trillium Gift of Life, we are leaders in organ donation for the province. 


The Clinical Manager supports and promotes quality care delivery for the critically ill/injured adult persons and their families. The Clinical Manager functions according to the accountability statement for Clinical Managers.  Specific responsibilities include: managing the day-to-day issues related to the staffing and care delivery while facilitating the development of leadership skills in staff and facilitating the development of interdisciplinary care team; promoting an environment which supports clinical excellence, continuous learning, measurement and evaluation. Participation in operational and capital budget submissions, monitoring, and effective utilization of resources, ensuring that frontline staff have the facilities, equipment and resources necessary for the day to day functions and activities.

1. Bachelor Degree in one of the Health Disciplines
2. Minimum 5 years of recent, relevant experience
3. Demonstrated Leadership and management skills.  
4. Demonstrated skills fostering an environment of engagement
5. Demonstrated project and change management
6. Demonstrated excellence in communication, team building and the ability to initiate and model positive change.
7. Ability to manage financial resources consistent with the program direction
8. Skills in facilitating Continuous Quality Improvement Management System (CQIMS)
9. Evidence of commitment to continuous education through pursuit of graduate studies or comparable educational endeavors.
10. Evidence of superior report writing skills
11. Current registration with a relevant Professional College
