Spire Cardiff Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our Outpatients team on a full-time, permanent basis—perfect for those ready to take the next step in their healthcare career within a supportive and dynamic environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a Senior Healthcare Assistant in our Outpatients department, you will be an integral part of our clinical team, supporting the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Performing phlebotomy procedures with confidence and accuracy, ensuring patient comfort and sample integrity.
- Assisting consultants and nursing staff during outpatient clinics, including preparing rooms, equipment, and supporting minor procedures.
- Welcoming patients and providing reassurance throughout their visit, maintaining a professional and caring approach.
- Accurately recording patient observations and updating clinical documentation in line with hospital policies.
- Supporting infection prevention and control measures, ensuring a clean and safe clinical environment.
- Managing patient flow to ensure clinics run smoothly and efficiently.
- Acting as a mentor to junior healthcare assistants, supporting their development and maintaining high standards of care.
Who we're looking for
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Healthcare Assistant who is passionate about delivering excellent patient care in a busy outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant, ideally within an outpatient or similar clinical environment.
- Phlebotomy training and experience – this is essential for the role.
- Level 3 Health and Social Care qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-focused approach.
- Confidence working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A flexible and proactive attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Working Hours:- Our Outpatients department is open Monday to Friday, 08:00–20:30, and Saturday, 08:00–13:00.
Contract:- Permanent
