Postdoc Program for Chemistry and Surfaces (f/m/d) bei Freudenberg

Responsibilities:

• Collaboration on a strategic program in the field of surface technologies (adhesives) in combination with AI/machine learning
• Responsibility for formulation development
• Collaboration on other projects (10–20%) to build cross-functional expertise and networks
• Application and further development of methods in the areas of project management, data analysis, digital modeling, and laboratory services
• Active networking within the Freudenberg community and with other departments (e.g., AI Hub, VC, FST)
• Presentation and communication of project results to various stakeholders

The advertised position is initially based at the Freudenberg Sealing Technologies business group of the Freudenberg Group in Weinheim (Bergstraße) until the end of 2028. For structured training in organizational processes and technical content, as well as to work on a strategically relevant project, the new employee will be based at Freudenberg Technology Innovation (FTI), the Group's central research and development unit. Working at FTI also offers the opportunity to build up a group-wide network and develop both professionally and interdisciplinarily. Upon completion of the program, the employee will return to the Freudenberg Chemical Specialities business group to continue their career in R&D at OKS Spezialschmierstoffe GmbH, located in Maisach (near Munich).

Qualifications:

• At least a master's degree in a scientific or technical field (e.g., chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering)
• Initial experience in the application of surface technologies and/or AI/machine learning is an advantage
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration and building a group-wide network
• Fluency in German and very good English skills
• Initiative, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team
