As an Electrical and Instrumentation (EI) Reliability Engineer, you will design and improve electrical and instrumentation systems at the Saint John Refinery and Terminals. You will apply industry best practices and new technologies while complying with safety standards and regulatory requirements. Your success will be measured by your ability to deliver effective technical solutions, mentor junior team members, and drive continuous improvement in system reliability and performance.

Your Responsibilities:
Champion a safe work environment; hold all contractors and other on-site personnel to company, industry, and regulatory standards of safe work
Design low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems including motor feeders and protection, distribution feeders and protection
Design emergency power systems including generators and UPS
Review designs of high voltage electrical systems
Design instrumentation systems including wireless, field bus and safety critical systems
Provide scope of work for capital projects
Develop and review equipment standards and specifications
Lead asset criticality assessments
Lead failure analysis investigations to find root causes and recommend corrective actions
Use predictive maintenance technologies to improve reliability
Review the effectiveness of preventative maintenance checks
Review suitability of proposed changes to spare parts
Review electrical installations in hazardous areas
Use power modeling and analysis tools to study protection, coordination and arc flash energy
Design electric heat tracing systems
Lead SIL Verification studies
Design industrial networking systems with Modbus, HART, Fieldbus and wireless technologies
Review cathodic protection checks
Support other technical groups
Your Skills:
Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
Ability to work well within a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Programming experience is an asset
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment: meet deadlines, develop plans, manage workloads with sound decision making skills, work autonomously and collaborate with many groups
Combination of office and field environment. Field visits required in all weather conditions (i.e. heat, rain, snow, cold, etc.)
Comfortable with high elevation climbing, working at heights and enclosed spaces
Your Experience:
Electrical engineering degree or diploma or equivalent combination of experience and technical training
Minimum of 5+ years of experience
