Position Summary:
As a Shop Technician at Fabick Cat, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar and other heavy construction equipment. Working in a shop environment, you will utilize your mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently. As a Shop Technician at Fabick Cat, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing Caterpillar and other heavy construction equipment. Working in a shop environment, you will utilize your mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently. This position plays a key role in delivering the high-quality service our customers expect.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and perform repairs on Caterpillar and other heavy equipment, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine inspections to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, including laptops, gauges, and instruments, to evaluate machine performance and identify faults in electronic, hydraulic, powertrain, and engine systems.
- Disassemble and assemble machine components to manufacturer specifications using hand tools, pneumatic tools, and specialized CAT specific tooling.
- Perform occasional basic welding and fabrication as needed.
- Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and work orders to complete necessary maintenance and repairs.
- Research parts requirements and order parts through proper channels.
- Safely load and unload components or machinery from trucks and carriers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company standards.
- Operate machines as needed for testing, diagnostics, or repair verification.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support shop operations.
