Position Title: Seasonal Arborist (Fall/Winter)
Department: Grounds & Agronomy
Reports To: Property Superintendent
Location: Woodway Country Club, Darien, CT 
Employment Type: Seasonal (Fall-Winter)

Position Summary:
The Seasonal Arborist is responsible for maintaining the health, safety, and appearance of trees and wooded areas throughout the Club’s property during the fall and winter seasons. This role focuses on pruning, removal, hazard assessment, and preventative maintenance to ensure a safe and visually appealing environment for members and guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct inspections of trees and wooded areas to identify disease, decay, or structural hazards.

• Perform pruning, trimming, and removal of trees and branches as needed for safety and aesthetics.

• Clear fallen limbs and debris following storms or seasonal changes.

• Operate and maintain arborist tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and lifts.

• Collaborate with the Grounds team to support overall landscape care and seasonal clean-up efforts.

• Apply basic tree health care practices such as mulching, fertilizing, and pest management when appropriate.

• Maintain accurate records of completed work and report findings to the Grounds leadership team.

Schedule:
Seasonal, typically [October-March], with flexibility based on weather and operational needs.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Prior experience as an arborist or tree care professional preferred; ISA Certification a plus.

• Strong knowledge of tree species, pruning techniques, and safety protocols.

• Ability to operate chainsaws and other arborist equipment safely and efficiently.

• Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
