Maintenance Associate bei Maui Varieties

Maui Varieties is currently seeking Part-Time Maintenance Associates in Kona and Hilo. This position installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures and infrastructure within the facility and grounds.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Think and behave in alignment with the Company’s vision, mission, goals, objectives and core values.
• Ensures cleanliness and upkeep of the store and company properties, internally and externally. This includes monitoring and taking appropriate action for misplaced items, obstructions in the aisles, moisture on the floor (especially on rainy days) and other unsafe conditions that may arise.
• Collects and disposes of all trash, inside and outside of the store/buildings.
• Maintain floors by sweeping and mopping as needed.
• Maintains the landscape by cutting the grass, trimming plants/shrubbery, watering as needed, and all other related duties.
• Assures that all maintenance equipment is well maintained, including regular cleaning, repairs, and making recommendations for replacing or upgrading equipment. Reports all malfunctions and breakage to maintenance manager.
• Assures that all equipment is operated in accordance with safety standards; immediately notifies proper authority of any accident or suspicious activities; immediately completes and submits proper documentation of all accidents.
• Maintains constant awareness of all unsafe activities. Reports unsafe working conditions and accidents immediately to the proper authority. Fully cooperates with all investigations.
• Maintains a clean and orderly parking lot by collecting/disposing of trash and returning shopping carts to their proper place.
• Attends meetings, training sessions, etc., as required by the Company.
• Safety and security
  • Work in a safe manner to protect yourself, your co-workers and others who may be affected by your actions.
  • Work together on exercising prevention methods to minimize injury or loss. Suggest solutions to mitigate hazards.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Maintains equipment and notifies management of repairs as needed.
• Responds to customers in a friendly manner as needed  
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of all Company policies and procedures as they apply to this position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work Hours: Available flexible hours as required including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment: Works under indoor and outdoor conditions.  Frequent exposure to heat, dust, solvents, chemicals, paint, glue, etc.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

• Ability to read and interpret written instructions. The ability to interpret a variety of instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision. Must be able to work independently and maintain cleaning schedule with minimal supervision or instruction.
• Ability to utilize a weedwhacker, broom, mop, utility knife, baler, wagons, push carts, and other industrial equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Continually pushes, pulls, and/or lifts up to 60 lbs. of materials, including lifting and maneuvering up to 100 lbs. of merchandise using a hand truck.
• Frequent reaching, twisting, turning, stooping, squatting, crouching, climbing of ladder, grasping and squeezing.
• Manual dexterity to operate hand and/or power tools.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age for the handling of power equipment.
• Minimum of twelve continuous months of professional custodial experience, preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, management using both verbal and written skills.  Able to understand and follow instructions to complete assignments.
