This role in summary
Whirlpool is looking for a machinist role that will have creative freedom in developing, constructing, and implementing solutions for process improvements. Responsibilities include creating various machined components and fixtures by working from prints, blueprints, sketches, and general instructions to create components for the build team as well as fixtures for the plant. This involves performing all types of bench and machine operations, including unusual and complex setups and machining methods, as well as highly critical linear slide operations. The ability to apply heat treatment to ferrous materials is also expected.
We are currently seeking to fill a first shift position: Monday - Thursday (with occasional overtime)
Hourly Rate of pay $35.45
Your responsibilities will include
Must be able to use advanced shop mathematics, read complicated drawings, use a variety of measuring tools
Operate manual milling, drilling, lathes, and surface grinding machines
Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints, or sketches to ensure accurate production
Must understand materials, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques
Understand typical heat treat for specific materials
Maintains inventory of completed products to support build team
Coordinate with Department lead on priorities
Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
Maintains a safe and clean workstation
Be able to continually lift material weighing between 5-35 lbs and also frequent lifting of 35-60 lbs
High school diploma or GED
5 years experience in machining
5 years experience using typical tool room machinery
Preferred skills and experiences
Be able to plan and perform unusual and difficult work where only general methods are available
Apprenticeship Program completion, Journey person’s card, and/or a minimum of five years of related industrial experience
