We currently have an exciting career opportunity available to join the HKS team as a full-time Driver in our Day Habilitation program at our Hempstead location.
SUMMARY:
It is the responsibility of the agency vehicle driver to provide program individuals with safe transportation to and from their Day Habilitation program as well as program activities throughout the program day.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- To drive consumers to and from their program safely and in a timely fashion.
- Possess a general knowledge of OPWDD regulations and guidelines.
- Act as a liaison between the residence and program by delivering mail or program funds, if necessary.
- Have a thorough knowledge of the vehicle routes and have the ability to follow maps.
- Help individuals with their personal belongings as needed.
- Assist individuals on and off the bus safely and enforce proper mobility.
- Provide oversight to the individuals as needed.
- Complete all other assignments as indicated by your supervisor.
- Assist in the program as needed.
- Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned and maintained according to safety standards at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
A High School diploma/ GED equivalent required. Experience working with individuals who have a developmental disability strongly preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have and maintain a clean and valid NYS Driver License. Training in AMAP, SCIP-R and CPR available within first 90 days of training.
SCHEDULE:
- Full-Time (40 hours/week)
- Monday-Friday
- Overtime available
PAY RANGE
- $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
