Position Summary

The Specialty Pharmacist expands patient access to specialty medications and promotes their safe, effective, and cost-efficient use. This role provides expert medication information and counseling to patients, families, and healthcare colleagues, supporting optimal therapeutic outcomes.

The pharmacist coordinates and oversees all aspects of specialty medication management, including clinical monitoring, documentation, and patient follow-up within the specialty pharmacy management system. They provide prior authorization and appeal support for clinic staff and offer daily oversight of specialty pharmacy technician activities.

Additionally, the Specialty Pharmacist conducts clinical and pharmacoeconomic research to support the hospital, medical staff, and continuous improvement of medication therapy practices.



 

*Graduate from a college/school of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) OR graduate from a foreign college of pharmacy that has at least a five-year curriculum and has passed the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination (FPGEE) and become certified by the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Commission (FPGEC), required.
*Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited institution, preferred.
*Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota current or within three months of hire, required.
*Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification current or within 3 months of hire, required.
*PharmD degree or equal clinical experience preferred for decentral.
*Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred for decentral.
*Institutional or outpatient experience preferred, depending on position.
*Pediatric Residency, preferred.
*Board Certified Pediatric Pharmacy Specialist (BCPPS), preferred.
*Minnesota Board of Pharmacy preceptor license, preferred.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates, we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role, the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate, internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary, this position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night, weekend or on-call work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
