Position Summary

Monitor boilers to ensure accurate steam levels provided to EPS injection molding machines. Also monitor pumps, vacuums, outside water towers, outside holding tanks, and DA system.

Role and Responsibilities

SECOND SHIFT

• Conducts regular maintenance checks to ensure a safe and efficient work environment
• Opens valves to drain/blown down from mixers into storage tanks
• Monitors steam levels in Boiler Room
• Monitors and maintain safe water levels
• Monitors and maintains clean working environment
• Ensures the smooth operation of heating system
• Performs mechanical and basic electrical maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs relating to all experimental / production / building equipment and ground utilities
• Operates water treatment systems
• Performs routine operations, maintenance, and water chemistry following technical manuals and schematics without direct supervision
• Aids the mechanic in trouble shooting and repair for most types of equipment listed above by describing operating conditions and parameters associated with failure
• Must have knowledge of systems and how one system affects another
• Performs advanced casualty control procedures to minimize damage to equipment and personnel
• Performs accurate record keeping for operations and repair work orders for all planned and repair maintenance
• Work some 12hr shifts and weekends as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

1. Level 1 EPS Boiler Operator:
  Requires 3-5 full years of direct experience working with boilers
  Requires Boiler Certification and License for South Carolina
  Must have OSHA 10 hour Training certification
  HAZMAT/EPA certification and experience preferred
  Completion of a boiler operator apprenticeship preferred
  Execute required chemistry tests, log, and report data at assigned customer accounts
  Monitors, controls, operate, and maintain plant equipment in accordance with established procedures and customer schedule
  Obtain, analyzes and record test sample data in appropriate logs
  Perform visual inspections of plant equipment and perform emergency maintenance as necessary
  Operate and maintain high pressure boilers and auxiliary boiler plant equipment, Centrifugal chillers, towers and related pumps
  Boiler water and water tower test and treatment
  Has advanced troubleshooting of all EPS Facility equipment. (Boilers, Expanders, Pumps, Vacuum, Cooling Towers)

2. Level 2 EPS Boiler Operator:
  Requires 5-7 full years of direct experience working with boilers
  Requires Boiler Certification and License for South Carolina
  Must have OSHA 10 hour Training certification
  HAZMAT/EPA certification and experience preferred
  Completion of a boiler operator apprenticeship preferred
  Execute required chemistry tests, log, and report data at assigned customer accounts
  Monitors, controls, operate, and maintain plant equipment in accordance with established procedures and customer schedule
  Obtain, analyzes and record test sample data in appropriate logs
  Perform visual inspections of plant equipment and perform emergency maintenance as necessary
  Operate and maintain high pressure boilers and auxiliary boiler plant equipment, Centrifugal chillers, towers and related pumps
  Boiler water and water tower test and treatment
  Has advanced troubleshooting of all EPS Facility equipment. (Boilers, Expanders, Pumps, Vacuum, Cooling Towers)

3. Level 3 EPS Boiler Operator:
  Requires an Associates degree in engineering, maintenance, or other technical major; or completion of a boiler operator apprenticeship; or any equivalent combination of education and experience
  Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for South Carolina
  Requires Boiler Certification and License for South Carolina
  Requires EPA Universal certification
  Requires 7+ full years of direct experience working with boilers
  Must have OSHA 10 hour Training certification
  Execute required chemistry tests, log, and report data at assigned customer accounts
  Monitors, controls, operate, and maintain plant equipment in accordance with established procedures and customer schedule
  Obtain, analyzes and record test sample data in appropriate logs
  Perform visual inspections of plant equipment and perform emergency maintenance as necessary
  Operate and maintain high pressure boilers and auxiliary boiler plant equipment, Centrifugal chillers, towers and related pumps
  Boiler water and water tower test and treatment
