- Helps to maintain overall operation of assigned patient care units and insures that required policies and standards are followed.
- Assists in developing, monitoring and reviewing quality of care delivered by assigned staff.
- Aides in developing quality care plans within the department. Performs chart reviews and assists in Process Improvements.
- Orientates, trains, schedules and assigns personnel reporting to this position. Recommends positions and necessary staffing required. Assists in approving OT, mandating, approving schedule, and offering incentives when needed.
- Monitors charges, ensures accurate billing and helps to maintain expenditures within allocated funds. Assists in review of clinical devices and orders equipment and supplies.
- Works with the Director to develop, implement, review, revise and monitor approved clinical protocols and policies and procedures within the assigned patient care areas.
- Participates in meetings as required. Serves on appropriate committees.
- Functions as liaison between respiratory staff, nursing staff, medical staff, patients, and other hospital personnel.
- Refers issues requiring interpretation or clarification of hospital policy or practice to the Director of Respiratory Care for resolution.
- Acts as a clinical resource and maintains knowledge and skill in the use and application of all department equipment. Assists in the delivery of clinical services when needed.
- Maintains the Bronchoscopy lab at CCH and is involved in performing scheduled procedures. Helps with scheduling and performs scheduled procedures as needed at FH.
- Coordinates departmental continuing education programs. Implements and keeps a record of all staff education performed within the department. Helps to train ancillary departments in current Respiratory Therapy procedures and equipment.
- Maintains proficiency with Hospital-Wide computer applications and assists in training personnel as needed. Reviews charting for accuracy and helps to facilitate efficient changes in the EMR.
- Maintains CAP accreditation and Massachusetts Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) license within the Blood Gas Lab.
- Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
- Challenges current working practices; identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management. Engages and commits to the organization’s culture of continuous improvement by actively participating, supporting, and promoting CCHC Pillars of Excellence.

- Registered Respiratory Therapist
- Graduation from an approved Respiratory Therapy education program with a minimum of an associate degree in a healthcare field
- Current license to practice Respiratory Care in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
- Current BLS certification
- NRP certification within 6 months of hire and maintain certification bi-annually
- 2 years’ experience as a Respiratory Therapist Supervisor preferred
- 3 years (within last 3 years) experience in acute care Respiratory Therapy
- 2 years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Initiatives
- Experience with complex scheduling and computer skills
- Billing experience helpful
