About the Department

The City of Aiken is accepting applications for a Public Services Coordinator to join our Public Services Department.

Position Duties

  • Supervises field crews and develops, implements, and manages maintenance systems
  • Assigns work to crews and monitors progress
  • Evaluates employees and their work product
  • Fills in wherever is needed to ensure the work gets completed
  • Requires a high level of ownership in regards to assigned duties
  • Manage small and large equipment, training, repair, upkeep, and routine maintenance
  • Ensure landscaping maintenance to City rights-of-way is completed
  • Ensure personnel are trained properly
  • Ensure weekly cleaning and maintenance of equipment is done
  • Ensure all personnel comply with all safety rules and regulations
  • Respond to citizen complaints
  • Conduct regular meetings with staff to keep them up to date
  • Prepare and distribute accident and injury reports
  • Basic computer skills to complete performance evaluations, generate purchase orders, input data into spreadsheets, and similar tasks

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid driver's license
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • (Preferred) Associate's in Horticulture or related field, category 3 pesticide applicator license, irrigation knowledge, small engine/equipment knowledge, plant identification knowledge
