JOB SUMMARY:
The person in this position manages the administrative and logistical aspects of reference laboratory partners, including communication and coordination of specimen receipt, processing, and reporting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as primary contact for reference laboratory work for internal departments and between PathGroup and reference laboratories; responds to inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide support as a liaison between PathGroup departments and between PathGroup and external reference partners.
- Coordinate receipt, processing, and tracking of specimens received from and sent to reference laboratories and healthcare facilities.
- Ensure accurate accessioning and test ordering, timely result reporting and communication with referring facilities.
- Manage return of materials to outside facilities
- Monitor pending lists and investigate problem cases.
- Maintain department statistical and quality reports and records.
- Assist with training of new employees.
- Assist with LIS testing as needed.
- Help to develop departmental procedures and workflow.
- Model and promote collaboration and work effectively with others across the organization to achieve established goals and turnaround times.
- Accession specimens as needed or directed.
- Exercise all laboratory safety precautions and adhere to lab procedures as stated in procedure manuals.
- Perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the industry's best security practices and regulatory guidelines to protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information and other sensitive company data.
- Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.

- Work with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
