Overview
The Role
BERA is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Head of Professional Services to lead and scale our services organization. This is a critical leadership role for a metrics-driven, process-oriented operator who excels at building efficient, profitable, and high-performing teams.It is critically important that this leader comes from the world of SaaS Professional Services, with direct experience running a services P&L within a software product company; not a traditional management consulting firm. The ideal candidate is a "player-coach" who can roll up their sleeves to structure complex software and data engagements while simultaneously building the scalable systems and methodologies required for rapid, as well as sustainable, growth. In fulfilling this role, the successful candidate will be a key partner to our Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams; ensuring that our clients achieve maximum value from their investment in BERA.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do
Operational & Financial Management (60%)● P&L Ownership: Manage the Professional Services department as a business, with full P&L responsibility. Drive profitability, margin improvement, and revenue forecasting.● Resource Management: Oversee resource allocation, capacity planning, and utilization forecasting to ensure consultants and project managers are deployed effectively and billable targets are met.● Process Optimization: Design, implement, and refine scalable methodologies, playbooks, and best practices for all service offerings (e.g., implementation, data integration, custom workshops, managed services, etc).● Performance Metrics & KPIs: Define, track, and report on key operational metrics, including billable utilization, project margin, time-to-value (TTV), customer satisfaction (CSAT), and on-time delivery.● Technology & Tooling: Own and optimize the Professional Services tech stack to drive efficiency, data visibility, and client impact. Key tools include Salesforce, Grow (for BI & reporting), Gamma (for presentations), and Gong (for revenue intelligence).
Team Leadership & Development (20%)● Lead, mentor, and develop a world-class team of Implementation Consultants, Project Managers, and Brand Strategists.● Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity.● Establish career paths and development plans to support team growth and retention.● Recruit top talent to scale the team in line with company growth.
Service Delivery & Strategic Collaboration (20%)● Oversee the successful delivery of all professional services engagements, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standard.● Act as an executive sponsor for key strategic accounts and serve as a point of escalation for critical client issues.● Collaborate closely with the Sales team during the pre-sales cycle to scope projects, develop compelling Statements of Work (SOWs), and provide expert input for streamlining RFPs (Requests for Proposals) to ensure engagements are set up for success.● Partner with Customer Success to ensure a seamless transition from onboarding to ongoing value realization.● Provide structured feedback from the field to the Product and Engineering teams to influence the BERA platform roadmap.
Qualifications
What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications:● 10+ years of experience in Professional Services, with experience coming directly from an enterprise B2B SaaS company.● 5+ years in a Professional Services leadership role within a SaaS environment, directly managing a team of consultants or project managers.● Demonstrable experience owning the P&L for a services organization with a track record of meeting or exceeding profitability and revenue targets.● Deep expertise in SaaS Professional Services operations, including resource management, capacity planning, utilization tracking, and project costing.● Deep, hands-on experience with a modern GTM tech stack, particularly Salesforce. Proficiency with BI tools (e.g., Grow), presentation software (e.g., Gamma), and revenue intelligence platforms (e.g., Gong) is highly preferred.● Proven ability to develop and implement scalable processes and service delivery methodologies from the ground up.● Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders; from individual contributors to executives.● A data-first mindset with strong analytical skills and proficiency in using metrics to drive decision-making.
Bonus Points:● Prior experience successfully transitioning a Professional Services team from a cost center to a profitable, revenue-generating organization.● Experience in the MarTech, AdTech, Analytics, and/or Market Research industries.● MBA and/or other advanced degree in a related field.● Experience in a high-growth, venture-backed startup environment.
