Equipment Operator I - Pavement Operations
The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome MULTIPLE Equipment Operator I's to the pavement operations team! As an Equipment Operator you will perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks for the City's Public Works Department. You will operate a variety of equipment to include asphalt pavers, milling machines, rollers, loaders, back-hoes, skid steers, pothole trucks and compaction equipment to repair and maintain streets and alleys.

Anticipated Schedule:  6:30AM - 5:00PM. Either Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday depending on crew assignment after hire. 
Job Type: Full-time; non-exempt
Hiring Range: $21.78 - $26.14

As an Equipment Operator I, you will:
  • Operate single/tandem axle dump trucks, plows, and sanders during snow removal.
  • Transport materials and equipment to/from work sites.
  • Safely use, service, and make minor repairs to tools and equipment. 
  • Perform manual labor such as shoveling, debris removal, and site clean-up. 
  • Assist other Public Works teams as business needs require. 
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain accurate work records.

We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
  • Knowledge of the basic operation and maintenance requirements of power-driven equipment
  • Knowledge of practices, methods, and materials used in general construction
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks for extended periods

Position Duties

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of professional, full-time experience in general construction, manual labor or a related field
  • Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restrictions
  • Possess, or obtain within one year of hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado CDL Class B driver's license which is not subject to restrictions related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

NOTE: Current CDLs must be registered with the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse at https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov.
