Who We Want:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Power BI Specialist to design, implement, and optimize data visualization and reporting solutions that drive operational, manufacturing, and business decisions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on Power BI expertise, a deep understanding of data integration, modeling, and visualization, and experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
This role partners closely with Operations, Finance, Engineering, and IT to turn complex datasets into actionable insights, improving operational efficiency, enabling predictive decision-making, and supporting plant and corporate KPIs.
What You'll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports aligned with business and production requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to capture reporting requirements, understand KPIs, and translate business needs into actionable analytics.
- Gather, clean, and integrate data from multiple sources, including ERP, MES, SCADA, and IIoT systems, ensuring accuracy and data integrity.
- Write, optimize, and maintain SQL queries, stored procedures, and views for reporting purposes.
- Analyze production and operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Develop and document standardized reporting processes, templates, and BI best practices.
- Monitor and enhance existing BI solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Provide training and support to end users on dashboards, reports, and data interpretation.
- Handle ad hoc reporting requests and complex analyses efficiently.
- Support data governance, security, and compliance initiatives across sites.
- Work with IT and ERP teams to ensure seamless integration of data sources such as Plex ERP.
- Stay current on BI trends, tools, and analytics technologies, applying them to manufacturing processes.
- Develop dashboards for production efficiency, quality metrics, and supply chain performance to support plant operations.
- Participate in new vehicle program launches, providing analytics support to monitor performance and production readiness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
When and Where:
This will be a M-F position located at our Corporate Office in Walker, MI.
Occasionally, this may require you to arrive early, stay late, or work on weekends, outside of our regular hours, to ensure we successfully meet customer needs, deadlines, or urgent requests.
What You Need to Have:
- Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in Data Analyst or Business Intelligence roles, preferably in manufacturing; 5+ years and experience in automotive (OEM or Tier 1) environments strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience developing dashboards, reports, and KPIs in Power BI, including DAX formulas and Power Query (M).
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, advanced formulas, and macros.
- Proficient in SQL Server, including writing queries, stored procedures, and views.
- Solid understanding of data modeling, ETL processes, and relational databases.
- Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Experience working with cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Data Lake, or similar.
- Experience integrating data from MES, SCADA, IIoT, or ERP systems (e.g., Plex ERP) for reporting and analysis.
- Skilled in creating actionable analytics and dashboards for production, quality, and supply chain performance.
- Experience with Python or R for data analysis, automation, or advanced modeling.
- Exposure to predictive analytics, digital twins, or smart factory initiatives is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and eager to learn in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, SQL, or Power BI are a plus.
