Inova Mount Vernon has an opportunity available for a Full Time Registered Nurse to work in our Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program. Ideal candidates should have cardiovascular nursing experience with a passion for patient education regarding behavior change and familiarity with ECG rhythm identification. Mount Vernon offers a small community team environment along with the support and resources of the larger Inova Health System.
Schedule can vary: 7:45-5:30 three (3) times per week; 7:45-2:30 and 7:45-12:30 one (1) time/week
No weekends or holidays.
All Inova Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab programs are certified and align with AACVPR guidelines and practice initiatives. Candidates should be comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of nurses, exercise physiologists, registered dietitians, and behavioral health providers. Our cardiac rehab programs are active environments and require standing/movement and some lifting throughout the day.

Job Responsibilities:
- Exercise prescription,
- Medication education, disease specific education, health behavior education and coaching;
- Day to day clinic management – maintaining equipment,
- Documenting patient care, participating in local and system committees for continuous program improvement.

Experience Required: 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse
Education Required:
BSN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an associate degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of the start date
- BLS for Healthcare Provider Certification from American Heart Association required
- VA RN license or eligible to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia as an RN
- Proficient in English with strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- 2+ years nursing experience preferred
- Cardiac Tele, step down, IMCU, or ICU experience preferred
- Medication management related to cardiac and pulmonary rehab patients
- Diabetes and heart failure patient experience a bonus
- Desirable to have exercise prescription experience
